The article deals with the issue of influenza and associated prevention including vaccination as perceived by senior citizens. It includes an overview of influenza issues as such, with specific reference to vaccination of the elderly. The empirical survey deals with the target groups' opinions on this issue with analysis of results obtained by questionnaire survey (176 respondents were evaluated both from their natural social environment n = 68 and institutional care n = 108). Results indicate that seniors' opinions on vaccination depend on achieved education. Age and gender were not significant factors, unlike place of residence. Statistical dependence was found between age of respondents and their decision to be vaccinated. One of the main goals of this article is to provide accurate and understandable information about influenza vaccination to senior citizens to enable them to freely decide whether or not to be vaccinated (with appropriate help and advice from professional health workers).
