Urolithiasis prevention

Erik Drabiščák, Erik Dorko

Hygiena 2021, 66(1):10-15 | DOI: 10.21101/hygiena.a1772

Urolithiasis is a multifactorial disease with a problematic character and with a high tendency to recurrence. Primary (prophylaxis) and secondary (metaphylaxis) prevention are important against the disease outbreak or its recurrence. Composition and amount of food and water taken daily, together with a healthy lifestyle play an important role in urolithiasis prevention. Identification and control of risk factors before the first manifestation are tasks of prophylaxis. Metaphylaxis seeks to prevent the recurrence of kidney stones formation by suppressing risk factors that play a crucial role in pathological processes. Improvement of eating habits with...

Hygiena 2021, 66(1):16-23 | DOI: 10.21101/hygiena.a1776

The paper relates the results of efficiency tests of specific application methods of surface and air remediation in the indoor environment of buildings, the scope and supply of which have significantly expanded in connection with the ongoing SARS-CoV-2 epidemic. The tests were focused on the most frequently offered procedures, i.e. on the use of open and closed (air purifiers) sources of UV-C radiation, fumigation (use of biocides) and ozonation. Special attention is paid to fulfilling the wording of related EU laws and regulations and compliance with safety principles in the application of these procedures in the work and municipal environments. We...

Eva Králíková

Hygiena 2021, 66(1):24-26 | DOI: 10.21101/hygiena.a1775

Electronic cigarettes (EC) are a controversial topic and the approaches of different countries also differ. We can compare Great Britain (GB), where ECs are recommended as a smoking cessation aid and available over-the-counter, and Australia, part of the Commonwealth, where only ECs without nicotine are free available, while ECs with nicotine are currently tied to the prescription of a physician.
