Report on Public Health Protection during the Nordic World Ski Championship in Liberec

The 47th FIS World Championship in Classical Skiing was held from 18.2. to 1.3.2009 in the town of Liberec, Czech Republic, and its immediate surroundings. This was the largest mass event to take place in our country and comprised health risks which had to be confronted not only prior to and during the championship but also after it had finished. The authors have summarized experiences gained while protecting public health in its individual fields during the organization and complex negotiations in this concluding report, not only in order to evaluate their work but primarily to provide basic information to future organizers of similar events in the Czech Republic and abroad.
