The world's highest incidence of kidney carcinoma in both sexes is found in the Czech Republic. A case-control study observed the impact of genetic predisposition in first-degree relatives in the Czech Republic. Positive association was detected in overall incidence where OR = 1.89 (95% CI 1.34-2.67). Positive correlation was also found in tumours other than carcinoma with OR = 1.83 (95% CI 1.28-2.61) and shows low risk in subjects with positive family history. Statistically significant risk was found in siblings and tumours other than carcinoma of the kidney, where OR = 2.11 (95% CI 1.19-3.76). The presented study has revealed positive association between hereditary predisposition and kidney carcinoma occurrence.
