The article evaluates our four-year experience with conducting compulsory self-selected courses for students of the medical faculty focused on public health and epidemiological topics. The aim of these courses was to provide students with practice in this medical field, thereby making it more attractive and creating foundations for future professional orientation and better mutual coopearation between public health authorities and health care facilities. The courses proved a success and underlined the necessity of this form of education. Conclusions and recommendations for standardization of this type of education have been accepted on the basis of evaluation of these courses.
